Jelena Anžujska, Milica and Evgenija Kiki

Endowment-building was not solely a male duty. Queen Jelena Anžujska, wife of Stefan Uroš I, built Gradac, and Princess Milica, wife of Prince Lazar, built Ljubostinja, where she later took monastic vows.

Evgenija Kiki, together with her husband Nikola, built a hospital for poor merchants, and her personal bequest is the Home of Merchant Youth in Belgrade.
