Endowments Beyond Serbia's Borders

Mount Athos, Pest and the southern lands

Serbian endowment-building was not limited by state borders. Hilandar on Mount Athos in Greece was founded by Saint Sava and Stefan Nemanja, the Tekelijanum in Budapest by Sava Tekelija, and the hospital in Kumanovo, in present-day North Macedonia, was built by the Nikola Spasić Endowment.

These endowments served Serbs beyond the state borders: monks and pilgrims, students in Hungary and the people of Southern Serbia.
